I love revision…yeah, you heard me

I’ve been AWOL the last few months on the blog, and with good reason. I’ve been writing my thesis novel for my MFA program. It’s been a pretty wonderful experience overall, time intensive, yes, and there was one rough moment involving my annoying wrist and a major deadline, but otherwise I’m so grateful to have been able to dedicate so much of my time to storytelling.

Now I’ve moved out of the drafting phase and into the revising phase. Some writers don’t like revising. But it’s one of my favorite parts of the process – especially where I am right now. I’ve got the big novel level structure stuff ironed out (hopefully) and now I’m dialing in on things like scenes and description. I may have said this before on the blog, but it feels like you’re building a house and you’ve got all the framing, electrical, and wiring done and now you get to do the fun stuff like pick out wall colors and buy new furniture.
